Keyball Olympics is a poetic and playful exploration of materiality within the digital space.
This experimental party game invites 1 to 3 players to gather around a single keyboard — not just as a controller, but as the very terrain of the game.
Each key becomes a living character, activated by touch, grounding the gameplay in a shared physical performance.
The materiality of the experience is constantly brought to the forefront:
through the tactile use of the keyboard, of course, but also through the game’s distinct artistic direction.
All environments are made from photographed everyday objects, while all visual assets — characters, UI, effects —
are deliberately hand-drawn in a naive, childlike style, echoing the imagination of a kid inventing wild adventures with their own scribbled heroes.
Sound, too, reinforces the physical presence of this world.
Every audio element is drawn from real-world recordings: the main theme clearly reveals the wooden resonance and strings of a ukulele,
while all sound effects come from live foley work — footsteps, impacts, textures. Added to this are expressive voices (fully localized) and occasional animal sounds, enriching the world with warmth and humor.
In Keyball Olympics, the boundary between screen and body blurs.
It’s not just a game — it’s a celebration of shared space, improvised play, and the joyful re-materialization of digital experience.
